Forgotten Foods: A manifesto for the future of the food system?
Sayed Azam-Ali, OBE is the CEO of Crops For the Future, the global centre dedicated to research on underutilized crops for food and non-food uses. Professor Sayed Azam-Ali completed his PhD in Environmental Physics and then worked as Groundnut Physiologist at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad, India. In 2006, he became Professor of Tropical Agronomy and, in 2008, the Chair in Global Food Security at the University of Nottingham. In 2008, he was appointed as Vice-Provost (Research and Internationalization) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. In 2011, he was appointed as the founding CEO of the Crops for the Future Research Centre in Malaysia and in 2020 the CEO of CFF (UK). Professor Azam-Ali holds the Emeritus Chair in Global Food Security at the University of Nottingham. In 2021 he was awarded an OBE for `services to underutilized crops and improving food security’ in the Queens New Year’s Honours List.
