Valéry Malécot is associate professor in botany at L'Institut Agro, and carries out its research activites within IRHS (Research Institute of Horticulture and Seeds).
His research interests are focussed on
- cultivated and wild plant taxonomy, particularly Rosa and woody plants
- use of taxonomic and evolutionary information for prebreeding
- phylogeny reconstruction and classificaton in evolutionary complex groups
- breeding history and evolutionnary history of ornamentals
- cultivated and wild plant nomenclature
